SIMON DATA FOLDER

Welcome to Dejal Simon!

NEW DATA FORMAT IN VERSION 5

In Simon version 5, the data folder has been reorganized. Instead of single files for all tests, services, etc, they are now stored within subfolders as separate JSON files. JSON is more readable, but you shouldn't manually edit the files unless you have guidance from Dejal, to avoid issues loading them.

The old files have been left in place for now, to enable you to downgrade to version 4 if you wish. In a future update, they will be removed.

If you are confident that you won't want to downgrade, you can remove the old files at your convenience. They are all of the files that have a ".simon" extension in this folder. (If you don't see the extensions, you can enable that in the Finder preferences.) Don't remove the subfolders.

There's no need to remove the old files, but that will free up a little space.

SYNCING

Simon 5 introduces support for syncing to iCloud. If you choose to enable it, the new data subfolders will be moved to iCloud. So don't be alarmed if they are not here. This folder will continue to be used for temporary files.

DOWNGRADING

If, on the other hand, you want to revert back to version 4 for now, you should turn off syncing, quit the app, then remove the new subfolders. Otherwise the data as of your upgrade to version 5 will be used if you later upgrade again.

The folders to remove in this case are:

- Devices
- Filters
- Notifiers
- Reports
- Services
- Tests
